Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady Itinerary
Feb 19

January 4–15 | Southern Caribbean Cruise
I was genuinely excited to book this itinerary on Brilliant Lady, the brand-new fourth ship from Virgin Voyages. This sailing stood out not only because it explores the Southern Caribbean, but because it included four ports we had never visited before, making it feel both adventurous and well-balanced.
We departed Miami on January 4 and returned on January 15, creating an ideal 11-night cruise that allowed us to experience each destination without feeling rushed.

The Itinerary at a Glance
Our route included:
Aruba
Bonaire
Cartagena, Colombia
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Grand Cayman
This mix of island favorites, first-time destinations, and true sea days made the itinerary feel immersive rather than hectic.
Pre-Cruise Tip: Arrive a Day Early
We stayed one night in Miami before sailing at the Hotel Marseilles. I always recommend arriving at least one day prior to embarkation in case of flight delays or unexpected travel issues. Since this was a longer cruise, one pre-night was more than enough for us and made the start of the trip completely stress-free. We grabbed a taxi from the airport and it was around $50 to get to South Beach; Similar on Uber, which we used to get to the port.
Meet the Ship: Brilliant Lady

Brilliant Lady feels immediately familiar if you’ve sailed Virgin Voyages before. The layout and design are very similar to the other ships in the fleet, which honestly makes it feel like home every time you step onboard.
At the same time, there were exciting updates - new shows, a new restaurant (Rojo by Razzle Dazzle), and fresh onboard energy that made this sailing feel special.
And then came the biggest surprise of all: Sir Richard Branson was onboard with his family. Getting to share the sailing with him added an unforgettable layer to an already incredible experience.
Why This Itinerary Works So Well
This longer sailing allows you to:
Truly enjoy sea days instead of feeling constantly “on the go”
Visit ports without early mornings and rushed returns
Experience the ship’s entertainment, wellness, and dining at a relaxed pace
It’s a perfect example of why longer Virgin Voyages itineraries are such a win.

Final Thoughts
This Brilliant Lady sailing delivered exactly what I love about Virgin Voyages: freedom, fun, flexibility, and thoughtful design. The combination of longer sea days, diverse ports, and an adults-only atmosphere made this one of those cruises that feels both energizing and restorative.
I’ll be sharing individual port guides for each stop on this itinerary next, including what we did, what we’d do differently, and tips for making the most of your time ashore. I will update this blog with those links above.
If this itinerary, or Virgin Voyages in general, is on your radar, I help my clients choose the right sailing, cabin, and onboard perks so their cruise fits their travel style, not just what’s available.
